Keenoy’s Pups News

January 12, 2018

Dear Families,

The weather this week was crazy!  We really lucked out with our BizTown trip and had a wonderful time.  The Pups had a couple of students move within the district (since Winter Break) which has been sad for us.  Fortunately, we added a new student this week.  His name is Gaon and he is from South Korea.  Our class has been very welcoming, helpful, and I’m glad that he joined this great group of kiddos.

Keenoy Pup of the Week-Kyah B.

Hello, my name is Kyah. In my free time, I like to play with my friends or play volleyball.  I have four sisters and a mom and a dad.  I’m the youngest one in my family.  I am from Hawaii and was born in Honolulu, which is the capital.  Two of my sisters live in Atlanta, Georgia and one of my sisters lives in Hawaii.  I have two nieces and one nephew.   I also have a dog.

Pup of the week on Tuesday-Luke E.
Please bring any pictures or items that you would like to put on our bulletin board that is located outside of our classroom.

Spelling Bee
The two students who qualified for the Paxton Keeley 4th/5th Grade Annual Spelling be are Alex M. and Sabrina H.  Congratulations to both students and no matter how far they advance, the Pups are proud of them.  They should also be proud of themselves for this accomplishment.  The Bee will be held on Jan. 17th at 8:30 am in the Paxton Gym.  The winner of the building bee will go on to the city-wide bee later in the year.

Academic Areas
Due to our field trips, late start, and early dismissal, our schedule has been anything but consistent.  It will be nice to get back to a normal routine on Tuesday of next week.

Instrument Enrollment Nights
All current 5th graders interested in being a member of the middle school band or orchestra next year need to attend one Instrument Enrollment Night. You do not need to attend the enrollment night where you will be attending middle school. Please attend the night most convenient for your family and plan to stay for the entire evening.

Gentry: January 11th at 6:30 pm
Lange: January 16th at 6:30 pm
Smithton: January 18th at 6:30 pm

During the Enrollment Night, parents and students will receive a brief orientation to the band and orchestra program. Following the orientation, 5th graders will try each instrument. At the end of the evening, students will be matched with an instrument based upon interest, ability, and balanced instrumentation needs.

BizTown
The class and I had a wonderful time on out trip.  Thank you so much for picking your child up promptly on Wednesday.  Also, a HUGE thank you to our volunteers that day.

Our bus was a bit delayed because she had to stop at a gas station for gas.  Our driver thought that we could make it back without filling up in St. Louis.  I’m glad that we did not run out!

Important Dates this Month
Jan. 15 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day-No School
Jan. 25 PTA movie night 6:00-8:00

Have a wonderful week!

                                                                                                            Sincerely,
                                                                                                            Dan Keenoy
