April 23rd through 27th
Keenoy Pup’s News 4-27-18
Dear Families,
What a fun week in our classroom! Again, thank you to so many of you who
donated “snack goodies” for our movie/picnic celebration. We also spent some time today in the media
center participating in a makerspace “bug” challenge. I really enjoy standing back and watching
them interact kindly with each other.
They are very helpful and seem to genuinely like being around one
another. Have a wonderful week!
Pup of the Week-Taylor B.
Hello, my name is
Taylor. I have eight siblings and half
of them are step siblings. My favorite
subject in school is math. The things
that I like to do in my free time is play with Legos and read books. I have three main pets. They are a dog and two cats. I also have a lot of fish that I like to take
care of. I am looking forward to sixth
grade, but have enjoyed 5th grade a lot.
The next Pup of the Week is Gaon J.
Please bring any pictures or items that you would like to put on our
bulletin board that is located outside of our classroom.
Paxton 5th Grade T-Shirts
These were ordered this week
and will be available for students to wear to our Rock Bridge field trip. These look great and again...THANK YOU Paxton
PTA for purchasing these shirts for 5th graders!
5th Grade Graduation
*This event will be held at
Paxton in the gym on Tuesday, May 22 beginning at 9:00 am. The ceremony will
take approximately an hour and afterwards there will be time to take pictures
in front of the school.
*This is the last day of
school and is also a ½ day.
*Dismissal will be at 12:50 p.m.
and you will have the option to take your child home after the graduation
ceremony.
*Students are expected to
dress nicely for this event.
Celebration
We enjoyed watching Tuck
Everlasting, and thank you for getting the permission forms returned quickly. Students also greatly enjoyed the “snack
buffet” and picnic style lunch in the classroom. We had enough left over to last us through the
week.😊 I am happy to celebrate their outstanding
attitude and effort. I will miss this
special group of kiddos. Everyone in our classroom seems to genuinely enjoy
each other’s company and shows kindness towards each other.
MAP Testing
We completed our MAP testing
on Tuesday. I appreciated students’
positive attitudes and effort during each testing session.
Paxton Keeley Field Day
Our class is participating in
Field Day on May 16 from 10:20 am to 12:00 pm.
Coach is asking for two parent volunteers from our class to help run the
game station Hoop Squeeze. Our class
will begin field day with this station, so I will help you become familiar with
the game. Please send me an e-mail if
you are available to volunteer. Thanks
for considering volunteering your time.
6th Grade Orientation (April 30th Smithton Middle
School @ 6 PM)
I hope you will take time out
of your busy schedule to take your child to Smithton’s orientation night (if
your child will not be going to Smithton next year, please disregard). This
will give students an opportunity to spend time in their middle school building
and begin to learn the layout of the school. This is a parent and child event.
Math
Next week in Unit 7 students
will:
*Analyze patterns and rules
in table of values, create graphs to represent the data, and answer questions
using rules, table, and graphs.
*Use rules, tables, and
graphs to compare real-world relationships and solve problems.
*Identify relationships
between patterns, graph ordered pairs from corresponding terms of patterns, and
use the graphs to analyze a real-world phenomenon (predicting Old Faithful's
eruptions).
Argumentative Writing
Students continue to research
while taking notes about both sides of an argument.
Based on their research and note-taking,
students determine which side of the argument they support.
Students work on a thesis
statement and a plan sheet.
